How is a successful Belly Liposuction measured?

Success is often determined by the measure of a patient’s happiness following surgery. Generally speaking the patient’s feelings in regards to the procedure and its results depends on a number of factors:

1) Patient expectation set
2) Patient pre-operative appearance (base point)
3) Surgeon’s technical abilities and techniques.
4) Knowing the results are never entirely predictable.

Performance indicators include:

* Female Patients
It is fortunate to note female patients have softer and less fibrous fat tissues than men, and thus liposuction on a woman is generally easier to perform than on men.

* Belly Skin
Upper belly skin may appear a little bit wrinkled following liposuction. Sometimes older patients with decreased skin elasticity experience a tendency for the skin to appear slightly wrinkled. The lower belly skin is not as susceptible to this type side effect.

* Upper Belly Fat
If the upper belly fat is either not suctioned adequately, any weight gain post surgery will enlarge the upper belly and give the appearance of a bulky midriff.

 * Patient Age
Fortunately the patient age is not an important factor in determining the success of liposuction. Some of the patients who are happiens with their results are women who are more than 60 of age. In a healthy older woman, liposuction can improve a fat belly with little risk or discomfort.
